In the world of music production, every artist has their own unique story. Some start in big studios, others experiment with whatever they have at hand. WhoisLior falls into the second category—his journey began with nothing more than his brother’s iPhone 5 and GarageBand loops. Fast forward ten years, and he’s now producing across multiple genres with a solid setup and a refined sound.

Getting Started: A Passion That Grew Over Time
Lior’s first steps into music production were purely out of curiosity. At just 8 years old, he started making beats using GarageBand on his brother’s iPhone 5. It wasn’t serious at first, but everything changed when he hit 7th grade in 2019.
A close friend introduced him to an underground artist on SoundCloud and shared his own dreams of becoming a rapper. That sparked something in Lior—he saw an opportunity to be part of something big. Determined to improve, he downloaded FL Studio and started producing.
“At first, my beats were terrible, but my brother noticed what I was doing, and we started making music together.”
His brother later enrolled in BPM Music Production School and learned Ableton Live. Every lesson he took became a lesson for Lior as well, helping him develop his skills alongside his brother.
Building His Sound: 10 Years of Growth
Today, after a decade of producing, WhoisLior has refined his style and works across multiple genres:
- Hip-hop / Trap
- Boom Bap
- R&B
- Trance
- Alternative Rap
Studio Setup: The Gear Behind the Music
Like any producer, WhoisLior has built up his studio over the years. His setup includes:
Speakers & Monitors:
- 2x Yamaha HS7
- 2x Yamaha HS5
- Wharfedale PowerCube 10+ Subwoofer
Audio Interface & Mixer:
- 2x Scarlett 2i2 (3rd Gen)
- Mackie Mix5
Headphones:
- Audio-Technica M50xWH
Computers & Software:
- MacBook 13” M1
- iMac 27” (2010) as a second monitor
- Ableton Live 12 & FL Studio 21

The Process: From Idea to Finished Beat
Lior’s production process is simple but effective. Sometimes, a melody randomly comes to mind, and he immediately recreates it in his DAW. Other times, he browses sample packs until something catches his attention. From there, he builds out the full beat, starting with either the melody or the drums.
His favorite part of production? Mixing.
Staying Inspired & Overcoming Blocks
Some producers rely on strict routines to stay inspired, but for WhoisLior, it’s different. He doesn’t overthink it – he just lets creativity flow naturally.
“I really don’t know. I just don’t force myself to make music.”
If a creative block hits, he doesn’t push through. Instead, he steps away and waits for inspiration to return.
Lessons Learned: Advice for New Producers
Having been in the game for a while, WhoisLior has seen what works and what doesn’t. His #1 tip for new producers?
“Work only using your ear. Learning music theory is great, but relying on it too much can actually make your music sound worse if you don’t fully understand it.”
And one of the biggest mistakes he sees beginners make?
“Buying gear before they even know how to produce.”
Many new producers think expensive equipment will make them better, but Lior believes knowledge and skill come first.

Influences & Hobbies
Lior draws inspiration from some of the most creative minds in music:
- Kendrick Lamar
- Baby Keem
- DUDA
- Sounwave
- Mike Dean
Beyond music, he’s got a wide skill set—he’s also into photography, video production, and game/web development. But at the end of the day, music is his true passion.
When he’s not producing, he prefers to go outside or watch movies to clear his mind.
Joining BeatsDen
Lior discovered BeatsDen through Instagram, and what he enjoys most is how easy it is to post and publish beats.
Looking ahead, he sees big potential for the platform:
“BeatsDen becoming a label.”
Final Thoughts
From making loops on an iPhone 5 to producing across multiple genres with a fully equipped studio, WhoisLior’s journey shows that passion and persistence always pay off. He’s a producer who trusts his instincts, keeps things organic, and focuses on the music itself over anything else.
